US Border Info

A passport or an Enhanced Ontario Driver's License can be used to prove your Citizenship. Additional papers maybe required to cross the border for non-Canadian Citizens. It is your responsibility to provide the proper papers. In light of recent events that are happening around the world, we may have delays at the US/Canada border. To speed up the process, we have notified US/Canada Customs to let them know we are coming and by pre-submitting a list of all our names and information for pre-clearance purposes. YOU can greatly help this process by making sure you have all the proper identification/paper work to cross the border before you sign up for this trip. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT CITIZENSHIP (i.e. "Canadian") LISTED IN YOUR PERSONAL PROFILE. Here is a website for more information. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/ready_set_go/land_travel/ WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN OUT, IF YOU ARE DENIED ENTRY TO THE US OR OUT OF THE US OR IF YOU DECIDE TO CANCEL OUT OF THIS SOCIAL EVENT DUE TO NOT HAVING THE PROPER ID OR PAPERWORK TO CROSS THE BORDER! Since we are leaving Canada, we strongly encourage you to purchase Out of Town Medical Insurance if you are not already covered by your employer. As you know, we are selling Medical Insurance (through TIC Insurance) through Advance Travel Services Ltd. in Brampton. For more information, please contact us. If you have any questions - we are no experts, but we can try our best to help you out!!
  1. What paperwork do I need to bring?
  2. Please note that you must have a valid passport or enhanced Ontario driver's licence and visa if necessary to participate in this trip. If not, you must hold the proper paperwork or VISA which will allow you to cross over the US border - and back! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS TRIP IF YOU DO NOT HAVE VALID ID TO CROSS THE BORDER OR IF YOU HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD! Remember we pre-submit a trip manifest and everyone will be prescreened!
  3. What happens if I forget to bring my identification / paperwork?
  4. On the ride towards the US border (or before departure), your Bus Leader will be checking/verifying your documentation and will notify in advance when the bus reaches the border. If for whatever reason you can not produce your documentation for your Bus Leader, it is his/her legal responsibility to inform the Customs Agent of your situation. It is most likely that you will not be permitted to cross the border, and will be asked to leave the bus. At this point, it is your responsibility to make your own arrangements back to Toronto. Similarly, please be advised that you will also need your proper documentation for the trip back to Toronto.
  5. Has anyone ever been left at the border?
  6. In short, yes .. so please be prepared!!
  7. What if I am not a Canadian citizen and I am not sure if I hold the proper paperwork to cross the US border?
  8. Before you sign up for Jay Peak, it is your responsibility to contact US/Canada Customs. We are not the experts on this matter - so please do not ask us.
  9. Why is it necessary to inform the organizers of Jay Peak about my situation?
  10. It is important for you to let us know what you plan to bring as documentation to cross the US border (when you sign up), so that we can help you the best that we can. When the bus arrives at the US border, the Customs Agent will come on the bus and ask to speak only to the Bus Leader who must be well prepared to answer any questions about the citizenship of EACH person on their bus. Meanwhile, everyone on the bus must have their documentation out and ready to show the Customs Agent if necessary.
  11. What if I still have questions and crossing the US border?
  12. If you have any questions, please contact the US/Canada Customs Agency.
ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY For the safety of our guests, we are implementing a zero tolerance policy on the way to Jay Peak and on the way back. Alcohol is NOT permitted ON THE BUS (purchase your alcohol at Duty Free on the way to Jay Peak) and for obvious reasons, don't even think about bringing illegal substances (and you know what we mean!). In the past, we have had narcotics dogs sniff the bus (above and below) and if caught, you will be charged and you will not be offered any refund for this ski trip. You will be asked to leave the bus immediately and you will be responsible for arranging your own transportation. Use your common sense, to not endanger yourself or those around you. In addition, for the safety and comfort of all our passengers, individuals who show up at the bus intoxicated or with the smell of alcohol on their breath, will not be To emphasize the seriousness of this, there may be an off-duty police officer coming on this trip and if necessary, we will be calling local authorities ourselves. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
